Gangeshwar Lal Shrivastava, General Secretary of Film Studios Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union, has raised a heartfelt plea on behalf of the laborers involved in the production of renowned films such as “Selfie” starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, and “Baap” featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Sunny Deol and another film Om. Disturbingly, the workers who contributed to these successful ventures have yet to receive their rightful payments, leaving them in financial distress and uncertain about their future.
Gangeshwar Lal Shrivastava, a dedicated social activist for the workers’ rights, has drawn attention to the significant outstanding dues owed to the laborers involved in the film production. These diligent individuals, affiliated with Film Studios Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union, played pivotal roles in setting up and constructing M/s Paper Doll Entertainment’s film “Om” from January 27, 2021, to April 8, 2021. Despite their invaluable contributions, the workers are still awaiting a total payment of Rs 21,57,388. Additionally, the dues for their work on “Baap” amount to Rs 20,58,000, further exacerbating their financial hardships.
The distressing situation is compounded by the alleged lack of response from the producers, including Sunny Deol, who have seemingly disregarded the labor union’s appeals to address the issue promptly. This unfortunate neglect has left the workers grappling with mounting financial burdens and an uncertain future.
Expressing deep concern for the laborers’ plight, Gangeshwar Lal Shrivastava, General Secretary of Film Studios Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union, emphasized the urgency of the situation. He stated, “It is disheartening to witness the workers’ hardships persist despite our tireless efforts. These hardworking individuals deserve timely and fair compensation for their invaluable contributions to the films ‘Om’ and ‘Baap’. We earnestly request the producers to honor their commitments and alleviate the financial distress faced by these laborers.”
